11-10-08 Back to Work!

(se nedenfor for dansk)
Vacation is over and we're back to work!
We went straight from two weeks of relaxation to performing four songs at the Voice '08 in Tivoli, Copenhagen. Actually we ended up working a bit on the preparitions during our vacation, and it's a good thing, we did that because there was quite a bit to prepare. For one thing we had a huge wind-machine that was supposed to make my dress look fab, blowing in the wind. Unfortuately it also affected the sound of the mic quite a bit. We managed to work around it, but for a moment we feared that the money was wasted and that we had to skip the wind-part.
We also had some smaller challenges with some wardrobe details. My one shoe came undone four times during four songs. Annoying.
Not to many people seemed to nitice, though.
If you want to see the gorgeous and daring styling and get the vibe of a beautiful September evening, check these pix out!

This Wednesday we returned from Greenland, where we have played two concerts last week. In so many ways we had a faboulous time.
First of all we have wanted to - and even been close to - going to Greenland MANY times during the last ten years. Somehow the timing was wrong or the financing wasn't there and so on and so on. This time we didn't want to believe until we were actually on board the flight, on our way there.
I must say that arriving in it self was pretty fantastic. The weather was great, so we had a bright blue sky above us and the Inland Ice and the mountains below as far as the eye could see, except in the direction of the ocen. There was.. the ocean...
For me that did it. I was completely speechless. It turned out I was to get that feeling a few times over.
The people who managed to get us there for one of the gigs had put together a couple of "field trips" and we got to go by boat, through the Greenland Fjords with icebergs and seals and whales and all! We went to have lunch at a sheepherds place where we tasted lamb in all the ways you can think of - and then some.
On the way back some of us stopped at the remains of the first Christian church of Greenland, set at the base of a huge mountain right on the shore of the Fjord. The mountain shaded the place from the cold wind and the thick vegetation silenced all noise and made it a very peacefull and magical place to visit.
The rest of our group experienced a bit more action; they went fishing. They told us that there was so many fish, they had to discipline themselves to stop fishing when they had cought plenty for all of us to eat, because they could have kept pulling them out of the sea with hardly any effort at all.
The next day we went out to the Inland Ice - some of us stayed safely on the rocks close to it. Others were daring enough to climb on to it. All of us had the plaesure of chopping off a little bit of Inland Ice and put it in a nice single malt whisky drink. Good stuff.
Needless to say we experienced loads more - like taste whale sushi and eat seal meat and our bagpipe player found a mountaintop he could clime that was on the outskirts of the town, we stayed in. There in the sunshine he played his bagpipe, letting the wind carry his sound down through the small town for all to hear.
And come to think of it, we DID go there to play music, and so we did!
The show in Nuuk went smothely - except when the electricity went for 15 minutes after the first three songs! Fortunately the audience in Greenland didn't feel like giving up on us, so they stayed and waited for the rest of the show. It seemed to me that they enjoyed themselves very much.
The next show was in a smaller town, Qaqortoq, and there we didn't have our own equipment. The stage was made out of the tables from the local school and the podiums for the band were made out of pallets! The keyboards were not excactly in mint condition and nor were the drums, but they were there and so were we and so was the happiest crowd we've seen in a loooong time. For some reason challanges like equipment you're not sure will work can really sharpen you up, and the show turned out really well, judging by the reactions and the talk of town during the next few days.
Many from our travel party have taken fantastic pictures and we will show you some of the best as soon as we get them and go through them - so stop by infernal.dk soon!

See Ya!
